Design Manifesto

UTS Student Project

2024

A reflective digital card-based manifesto challenging design industry norms and prompting critical thinking about values and practice in 2024 and beyond.

Overview

A digital, wallet-compatible manifesto that encourages designers to engage with questions of value, ethics, and purpose in their daily practice.

The story

As I neared the end of my degree, I wanted to critically explore what it means to be a designer today and how industry expectations can conflict with personal values. I created a digital, wallet-sized card manifesto that used irony and reflection to question compromises for money, encouraging designers to pause, reflect, and reconsider what the profession should stand for.

The solution

The manifesto takes the form of tangible, everyday cards designed to be carried and interacted with regularly, blending visual design with conceptual critique. By combining playful irony with thought-provoking prompts, the project provides a practical tool for self-reflection, inspiring awareness, questioning norms, and fostering a more considered approach to design practice in 2024 and beyond.
